Kampala, Uganda: Victoria University teams announced their intentions early in the 2026/27 National Basketball League (NBL) season, with both the men’s and women’s sides registering emphatic opening-weekend victories to signal serious title ambition.

She Crocs Set the Pace

The Victoria University She Crocs opened their campaign on Saturday at Kira Den with a controlled 45–34 victory over Miracle Eaglets.

The She Crocs laid the foundation early, taking a 20–09 halftime lead and maintaining defensive discipline to close out the contest. Their ability to manage tempo and shut down transition play highlighted improved organisation and depth compared to last season.

The win immediately places Victoria University among early pace-setters in the women’s league.

Victoria Crocs Flex Muscle in Men’s Division

In the men’s league, the Victoria Crocs delivered one of the most convincing performances of the opening round, cruising to an 83–62 win over Kampala Rockets.

The Crocs dominated both ends of the floor, pulling away decisively after halftime through aggressive rebounding, quick ball movement and efficient scoring in transition.

The comfortable margin underlined the team’s physical readiness and tactical execution heading into the new season.

With both teams securing wins in their opening fixtures, Victoria University has emerged as one of the few institutions to start the 2026 NBL season with a clean sweep across genders.

The dual victories reinforce the university’s growing reputation as a competitive force in Ugandan basketball, blending youth development with structured team play.

Victoria University now turns attention to tougher tests ahead as the league continues midweek, with expectations already rising around a sustained playoff push.
