Kyambogo, Kampala: The Manager of the Office of the National Chairman (ONC) and Senior Presidential Advisor/Political Assistant, Hadijah Namyalo, has endorsed the 2026 Ramadhan Charity Run set for Sunday February 15, pledging support for an initiative aimed at uplifting vulnerable Muslim families.
Hajjat Namyalo hosted leaders of Allied Muslim Youth Uganda, Dusmans Daawa Initiative, and Taniim Hijja & Umrah at her Kyambogo office on Wednesday afternoon, where she received a briefing about the charity run that will set off at Herman Padel Centre this Sunday at 7am.
The initiative seeks to promote fitness and unity while raising funds to support underprivileged families during the holy month of Ramadhan.
Welcoming the delegation, Namyalo praised the organisers for combining faith, health and charity into one impactful community activity.
“Ramadhan teaches us sacrifice, discipline and caring for the less fortunate. Supporting this charity run is not just about fitness, it is about fulfilling our duty as believers to uplift those in need,” she said.
She emphasised that Islam strongly encourages charity, quoting Surah Al-Baqarah (2:261) of the Holy Qur’an on the multiplied reward of giving, and Surah Al-Ma’un (107:1-3), which cautions against neglecting the needy.
“We cannot claim to be faithful if we ignore the hungry, the orphaned and struggling families in our communities. Initiatives like this Ramadhan Charity Run give us a practical opportunity to live by the Qur’anic teachings,” Namyalo added.

On behalf of the ONC, Hajjat pledged institutional support and urged Muslim youth, corporate entities and well-wishers to participate by purchasing run kits and contributing to the cause.
“Let us ensure that no family breaks their fast without a meal this Ramadhan. Charity is not optional, it is an obligation,” she stressed.
Uthman Matovu, a director at the Ramadhan Charity Initiative, thanked Namyalo for her endorsement, noting that her support would significantly amplify the campaign.
“This run is about more than covering kilometres. It is about covering the gaps in our communities, ensuring vulnerable families receive food, essential supplies and dignity during Ramadhan,” Matovu said.
He revealed that proceeds from the run will fund food packages and other basic necessities for families in need. Registration is ongoing, with run kits already available through designated contact lines.
Matovu called on institutions, business leaders and youth groups to partner with the organising bodies to make the 2026 edition larger and more impactful.
The charity run, under the theme “Charity, Fitness, Fun,” is expected to draw participants from across Kampala and beyond, reinforcing unity, generosity and healthy living ahead of the sacred month of Ramadhan.
