Mukono, Uganda: Funeral arrangements have been finalized for murdered Uganda Christian University (UCU) Dean of Students Pamela Tumwebaze, with his final journey (burial) set for Sunday, February 15, in Kashari, Mbarara District.

Tumwebaze was killed earlier this week in a brutal attack at her home in Gwafu Village, Goma Division, Mukono District — a development that has shocked the academic community and triggered an ongoing police investigation.

Family, friends, colleagues and members of the public began paying their respects yesterday (Wednesday) during a vigil held at Johnson Musinguzi’s residence in Naalya Estate. Another vigil is scheduled for today at Emperor Hotel, Naalya, as mourners continue to gather in solidarity with the bereaved family.

According to the official burial programme released by the family, a funeral service will be held tomorrow at 10 am at Nkoyooyo Hall, Uganda Christian University in Mukono. The service is expected to draw students, alumni, clergy and education stakeholders from across the country.

Later tomorrow evening, a vigil will be held from 6pm in Nkonjeru, Mbarara, as the body is transported to southwestern Uganda ahead of the final rites.

On Saturday, a funeral service will take place at Nkonjeru Church of Uganda in Mbarara starting at 1pm. Thereafter, the body will be taken to Keigoshora, Rubaya in Kashari, Mbarara District.

Pamela Tumwebaze will be laid to rest on Sunday, February 15.

Her death has left a deep void at UCU, where she served as Dean of Students and was widely regarded as a compassionate mentor and spiritual guide. Just hours before her death, she had preached at the university’s community worship service, delivering a sermon centered on healthy relationships.

Police have maintained that investigations into her murder are ongoing, with task teams deployed to identify and apprehend the suspect. Authorities have assured the public that justice will be pursued.
