Kampala, Uganda: The Minister of Education and Sports, Hon Janet Kataaha Museveni, will on Friday, February 13, 2026, officially release the 2025 Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE) results at State House Nakasero.
The confirmation follows a high-level meeting between the minister and officials from the Uganda National Examinations Board (UNEB) held on Wednesday, February 11, where final preparations for the release were concluded.
The 2025 UCE examinations were conducted between October 13 and November 7, 2025, with a total of 432,159 candidates registered nationwide. This represents a 12.1 percent increase in candidature compared to the previous year, reflecting continued expansion in lower secondary enrollment.
The 2025 cohort marks the second batch of learners assessed under the New Lower Secondary Competency-Based Curriculum, which emphasizes practical skills, critical thinking, and learner-centred assessment.
Under the revised framework, Continuous Assessment (CA) conducted by schools contributes 20 per cent to a candidate’s final grade, while the UNEB end-of-cycle national examination accounts for the remaining 80 per cent.
In a notable shift from previous years, the ministry will release the Senior Four results while the Senior One placement exercise is still ongoing.
The two-day placement exercise for Senior One students begins today, February 12, at Lugogo and is expected to conclude on the afternoon of February 13. The release of the UCE results will take place earlier that same morning.
Education officials say the overlapping schedules are intended to streamline the transition process and ensure timely planning for the new academic cycle.
