Kampala, Uganda: The Uganda Electricity Distribution Company Limited (UEDCL) has been accredited as an Approved Employer – Professional Development by the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) through its Uganda chapter.
The recognition, announced on Wednesday, affirms UEDCL’s commitment to investing in staff training, continuous professional growth, and adherence to internationally recognized standards of corporate governance and financial excellence.
In a statement shared via its official platforms, UEDCL said the accreditation reflects its deliberate focus on building a skilled workforce capable of driving efficiency, accountability and sustainable value creation.

“This recognition reflects our strong commitment to developing our staff, supporting their continuous professional growth, and upholding globally recognized standards of excellence,” the company noted.

Boost to Corporate Governance
The ACCA Approved Employer status is granted to organizations that demonstrate high standards in employee development, structured learning pathways, and support for professional certification.
For UEDCL, which took over national electricity distribution in April 2025, the accreditation comes at a time when the company is positioning itself to strengthen operational efficiency and financial accountability across the country’s power distribution network.
Industry observers say the recognition enhances UEDCL’s credibility in financial management and internal controls, areas critical for public utilities handling large-scale infrastructure and revenue streams.

UEDCL emphasized that while it continues to expand and stabilize electricity distribution nationwide, equal priority is being placed on staff empowerment.
“As we deliver reliable and sustainable electricity across the country, we remain equally focused on empowering our workforce to drive efficiency, accountability, and long-term value for Uganda,” the statement added.
