Hoima City Stadium, Uganda’s 20,000-seat sports facility, nominated for the global Stadium of the Year 2025 award.

Hoima, Uganda: Uganda’s Hoima City Stadium has been officially nominated for the prestigious Stadium of the Year 2025 award, the world’s largest public vote dedicated to sports architecture.

The global competition is organised annually by StadiumDB since 2011 and features the most significant stadiums completed in the preceding year. In the 2025 edition, 28 newly constructed stadiums worldwide are competing for the title.

Hoima City Stadium is Uganda’s sole representative in this year’s contest, placing the country on the global stage in a competition decided entirely by public voting.

A Landmark Sports Project

The 20,000-seat facility, constructed between 2024 and 2025, ranks among Uganda’s most important recent sports infrastructure investments. The stadium is expected to host major domestic and international football matches, strengthening Uganda’s sporting profile ahead of upcoming continental tournaments.

Sports analysts note that previous editions of the award have demonstrated how strong local mobilisation and media engagement significantly influence final rankings.

Public voting is open until March 9, 2026.

Ugandans have been encouraged to participate and rally support for Hoima City Stadium through the official voting platform hosted by StadiumDB.
