Kampala, Uganda: Mugarura Isaiah Ndebwoha has been declared the 9th Guild President-Elect of Victoria University after securing a decisive victory in the 2025/2026 students’ guild elections.
According to official results declared by Atayo Habib, the chairperson of the University Electoral Commission, Ndebwoha polled 2,980 votes, representing 50.8 per cent of the total votes cast.
Voting was conducted online over two days using the University’s advanced voting system, VCLASS, starting on 17th February 2025 and concluding on 18th February 2025. Out of 10,517 registered students across faculties, 5,866 votes were cast, reflecting a voter turnout of 55.78 per cent.
Mugarura Isaiah Ndebwoha polled 2,980 votes (50.8%) to emerge winner, while his closest challengers, Mujungu Marvin Kahuma, polled 2,298 votes (39.2%) in 2nd place and Luweru Ben Kazigo, 588 votes (10.0%) to trail in 3rd place.
“Today, Mugarura Isaiah Ndebwoha is declared the overall winner of the students’ guild elections for the year 2025–2026 as the 9th Guild President-Elect of Victoria University,” Atayo stated.
The university also held elections for Guild Representative Council (GRC) positions across various faculties, with several candidates elected unopposed, particularly in categories including Science and Technology, Humanities and Social Sciences, and International Students.
In competitive races, the Health Sciences (Female GRC) saw Nakawooya Kevin Hall Mutegeki secure 1,058 votes (51.9%) against Ahurira Cephas with 981 votes (48.1%).
In Business and Management (Male GRC), Abdul Malik Muhamood won with 773 votes (70.7%) against Makanga Alvin Lawrence, who polled 321 votes (29.3%).
Ndebwoha becomes the fifth guild president of Victoria University to be elected through its online voting system, a model debuted in 2022. Others are Michelle Kirabo (5th), Carter Joryn (6th), Emmanuel Kintu (7th), and Khaukha Emmanuel (8th).
His immediate predecessor is Khaukha, is expected to hand over instruments of power in the coming weeks.
