Kampala, Uganda: Senior Prophet TJ Collins of Epikaizo Ministries International has marked his birthday by pledging to construct permanent houses for two vulnerable widows, choosing philanthropy over the traditional celebrations often associated with high-profile clergy.

In a move that has drawn attention across both religious and civic circles, the cleric announced that instead of hosting a grand celebration, he would channel resources toward building what he described as “altars of hope” for families in need.

“A birthday is a reminder that you were given a chance to occupy space on this earth,” Prophet TJ Collins said during the announcement. “The best way to thank the Creator for your space is to create space for someone else. We are not just building houses; we are building altars of hope where there was once only despair.”

A Shift from Ceremony to Service

In Uganda’s religious landscape, birthdays of prominent spiritual leaders are often marked by large congregational gatherings, gifts, and celebratory events. Prophet TJ Collins’ decision to redirect the focus toward housing support represents a notable departure from that norm.

The beneficiaries — widows facing unstable housing conditions — are expected to receive newly constructed, permanent homes. In the Ugandan context, where land and housing signify long-term security and dignity, the gesture carries both social and economic weight.

Church leaders described the initiative as a reflection of the ministry’s name, “Epikaizo,” a Greek term meaning “to overshadow” or “to cover with grace.”

Faith-Based Social Responsibility

The Prophet referenced the biblical principle found in James 1:27, which describes caring for widows and orphans as “pure religion,” framing the birthday pledge as a practical expression of faith.

Religious analysts note that such acts of targeted philanthropy align with a broader trend among faith leaders who are increasingly linking spiritual observances with social impact projects, including housing, education sponsorships, and medical outreach.

Beyond Celebration

Observers say the initiative also sends a message to congregants about redefining celebration culture — shifting from personal accumulation to community contribution.

By tying his personal milestone to a tangible development project, Prophet TJ Collins has positioned the birthday not merely as a private event but as a public act of social responsibility.

As construction plans move forward, the long-term impact will likely be measured not in speeches or ceremonies, but in the stability and dignity afforded to the beneficiary families.
