Mukono, Uganda: The Manager of the Office of the National Chairman (ONC), Hajjat Hadijah Namyalo Uzeiye, on Tuesday intensified her Ramadan outreach in Mukono District, delivering food packages to fasting Muslims at Kauga Prison and Masjid Yusuf in Nakifuma.
The packages, comprising sugar, rice, maize flour, wheat flour and cooking oil, were delivered on her behalf by ONC Mukono District Coordinator Mr John Baptist Wamala, accompanied by Sheikh Hassan Kaggwa Ssalongo, the Muslim leader of Mukono Municipality.
At Kauga Prison, the Officer in Charge, SP Najjuma Juliet, received the delegation and applauded the initiative.
“We are deeply grateful to H.E. President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, through Hajjat Hadijah Namyalo and the Office of the National Chairman, for remembering Muslim inmates during this holy month of Ramadan,” SP Najjuma said. “This gesture restores hope and reminds our inmates that they are not forgotten.”

She commended the Commissioner General of Prisons, Johnson Byabashaija, and the East Central Regional Prisons Commander, ACP Mary Tamale, for supporting an open-door policy that enables partners and stakeholders to access prison facilities and support inmates.
“The open-door policy has strengthened transparency and enabled partners like ONC to reach inmates with spiritual and material support,” she added.
While delivering the items on behalf of Hajjat Namyalo, Mr Wamala conveyed her message of unity, faith and perseverance during the sacred month.
“Ramadan teaches sacrifice, patience and generosity. As the Office of the National Chairman, under the stewardship of Hajjat Hadijah Namyalo, we are committed to standing with the Wananchi, especially Muslims observing the fast,” Wamala said.
He noted that the outreach reflects President Museveni’s commitment to supporting vulnerable communities.

From Kauga Prison, the team proceeded to Masjid Yusuf in Nakifuma, where the donation was received by Imaam Nkoyoyo Ismail. The Imam praised Hajjat Namyalo and President Museveni for what he described as compassionate leadership.
“Through Hajjat Namyalo, President Museveni has reached the ground and touched the souls of many Ugandans, especially the bazzukulu,” Imaam Nkoyoyo said.
Citing Qur’an 2:261, he said acts of charity during Ramadan are an investment in faith and humanity. He further referenced Surah Al-Insan (76:8-9), emphasizing that remembering inmates during Ramadan reflects the true Islamic spirit of compassion and inclusivity.

Since the beginning of the week, Hajjat Namyalo has spearheaded Ramadan food distributions across Mukono and major universities in Kampala, reaching hundreds of fasting Muslims.
The Office of the National Chairman has confirmed that the outreach will continue in the coming days to ensure more beneficiaries receive support during the holy month.
