Kaliro District, Uganda: The Office of the National Chairman (ONC) Coordinator for Kaliro District has commended Bulamogi College Gadumire for its remarkable transformation in infrastructure and academic performance, while pledging to relay the school’s infrastructure needs to relevant authorities.

Mr Wabwire Andrew, who represented Senior Presidential Advisor Hajjat Hadijah Namyalo, conducted a monitoring visit to Bulamogi College Gadumire on Thursday, February 26.

Mr Wabwire, an old student of the school, was received by Deputy Headteacher Mr Oketcho Yosia Oringo and Director of Studies Mr Hasahya Jackson.

The visit follows earlier empowerment engagements in Kaliro District where President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni delegated Hajati Namyalo to spearhead wealth creation and community mobilisation programmes. Bulamogi College Gadumire provided the venue grounds during that function, which drew a large community turnout.

Speaking during the inspection, Mr Wabwire expressed satisfaction with the school’s growth.

“I am extremely happy to witness the great transformation in infrastructure development, academic performance, and student enrollment since I left this institution,” he said.

Enrollment Pressure, Infrastructure Gaps

Since 2017, the school has undergone steady development and continues to serve learners from underprivileged families, contributing significantly to literacy levels within the sub-county.

Improved academic performance has attracted students from neighbouring sub-counties, resulting in a sharp rise in enrollment. However, the increase has created pressure on existing facilities.

The Deputy Headteacher revealed that while the school is still admitting Senior One students, it requires at least four additional streams to adequately accommodate demand.

School administrators appealed to the Office of the President for support with iron sheets to roof an unfinished classroom block. Completion of the structure would enable the institution to admit more students and provide a conducive learning environment.

Mr Wabwire commended the leadership for their dedication and urged government, particularly the Ministry of Education and the District LC5 leadership, to prioritise roofing the building. He noted that some learners are currently studying under trees due to limited classroom space.
