Kampala, Uganda: The 2025/2026 Finance Trust Bank FUFA Women Elite League season kicked off on Saturday with eight thrilling fixtures across the country, delivering commanding wins and early signals of a fiercely competitive campaign.
UPDF WFC made a strong statement at Bombo Barracks Ground, defeating PISGBC Queens FC 2–0. Nakalyango Sandra and Aloyo Naume Joan found the back of the net to hand the army side a perfect start.
Lira City Queens FC were equally dominant, thrashing Highway Ladies FC 3–0 at Lira P/S Playground. Elizabeth Apili bagged a brace, while Flavia Anyinge added the third to seal maximum points. Boni Consil Girls FC mirrored that scoreline with a commanding 3–0 away victory over Buhimba Ladies Saints FC at Kigaya C.O.U Playground.
At King Oyo Sports Complex, FC Tooro Queens edged Police Women FC 2–1 courtesy of goals from Kabucurezi Mary and Kabogabe Sheila. Meanwhile, Goldstar H/S Ladies FC registered a 2–0 win over UCU Lady Cardinals FC at Amus College Stadium, with Nekesa Abigail and Kusiima Margret on target.

In Gulu, Pabo United WFC and Jinja United WFC settled for a 1–1 draw at Gulu H/S Playground. Akello Maryline and Patricia Babirye scored for their respective sides in a closely contested encounter.
She Kasese Soccer Club hosted URA Ladies FC at Nyakasanga Primary School Playground in Kasese, attracting a large home crowd. However, Proscovia Namataka netted the decisive goal to secure a 1–0 victory for URA Ladies FC.
At Soroti Sports Ground, BUL Women FC edged Ateker WFC 1–0 thanks to Balainayo Hadijah’s solitary strike.
The opening round showcased attacking intent, disciplined defending and growing fan interest, setting the tone for what promises to be an exciting 2025/26 season in Uganda’s top-tier women’s league.
