Kampala, Uganda: The Uganda Registration Services Bureau (URSB) has attained the highly-coveted ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management System (QMS) Certification, marking a major milestone in its drive toward institutional excellence and improved service delivery.
The celebration was held at the Uganda Business Facilitation Centre (UBFC) Auditorium in Kampala, bringing together government officials, board members, management, staff and key stakeholders.
The Chief Guest, Dr Theopista Mary Wenene, Deputy Head of Public Service and Deputy Secretary to Cabinet, commended URSB for embracing systems-driven transformation.

“URSB stands out as a perfect example of a government agency that has embraced transformation through systems, accountability and results-oriented management. This achievement is proof of strategic strengthening of standards. It is a statement of commitment to efficiency, transparency and citizen-centred service delivery,” she said.

The Chairperson of the URSB Board, Francis K. Butagira, said the Board had deliberately prioritised structured systems and measurable outcomes to guarantee sustainable excellence.
“We recognised early that sustainable excellence requires structured systems, clear processes and measurable outcomes. This certification affirms that URSB is on the right path,” he noted.
URSB Registrar General Mercy K. Kainobwisho reaffirmed the Bureau’s commitment to innovation and continuous improvement.
“This certification strengthens our resolve to deliver streamlined, faster and standardised services to our clients. ISO 9001:2015 provides us with a robust framework to continuously review, improve and align our processes with international best practices,” she said.
ISO 9001:2015 is the world’s leading quality management system standard, focusing on customer satisfaction, process efficiency, risk-based thinking and continual improvement.
Boost to Business Environment

URSB’s certification reflects its strategic focus on strengthening governance, enhancing operational efficiency and improving client experience in business registration and intellectual property services.
Officials say embedding international quality standards will support Uganda’s broader economic development agenda by ensuring reliable, transparent and efficient registration services.
As the Bureau ushers in what leaders described as a new era of excellence, management pledged to sustain and deepen the culture of quality across all operations.
