Arusha, Tanzania: President Yoweri Museveni on Friday evening arrived in Arusha, Tanzania, to participate in the 25th Ordinary Summit of the East African Community (EAC) Heads of State.
The high-level regional meeting is being held under the theme: “Deepening Integration for Improved Livelihoods of EAC Citizens.”
The summit will bring together leaders from the East African bloc to deliberate on strengthening economic cooperation, regional integration and joint development initiatives aimed at improving the welfare of citizens across member states.
During the summit, heads of state are expected to review progress on key pillars of the regional integration agenda including trade facilitation, infrastructure development and economic transformation within the East African Community.
The leaders will also discuss emerging regional priorities intended to promote sustainable development and economic prosperity across the bloc.
Upon arrival in Arusha, President Museveni was received by a delegation of Tanzanian and Ugandan officials led by Patrobas Katambi, Tanzania’s Minister of Home Affairs, and Dennis Londo, Tanzania’s Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade.

Other officials present at the reception included Dr. Samwel Shelukindo, Permanent Secretary in Tanzania’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs; Amb. Mindi Kasiga; Robert Mbwasi, Deputy Permanent Secretary in Tanzania’s Ministry of Industry and Trade; John Mulimba, Uganda’s Minister of State for Foreign Affairs in charge of Regional Affairs; Amb. Fred Mwesigye, Uganda’s High Commissioner to Tanzania; Amb. Anne Katusiime, Head of the Uganda Consulate in Arusha; and Brig. Ronald Bigirwa, UPDF Defence Advisor.
President Museveni’s participation in the summit underscores Uganda’s continued commitment to advancing the objectives of the East African Community, particularly in strengthening regional trade, infrastructure connectivity and economic integration among partner states.
The summit is expected to shape policy directions aimed at enhancing collaboration among EAC member countries while addressing challenges affecting regional development.
