Kibuku, Uganda: Police in Kibuku District have launched investigations after an unidentified adult male was found dead in a potato garden with multiple injuries suspected to have resulted from mob justice.
The body was discovered on Saturday, March 7, 2026, in Bunyekero I Village, Bukamugewo Parish, Buseta Sub-county.
According to police, the discovery was reported by Peter Kirya, a peasant farmer from Kisenyi Village in Namuyonga Parish, Lwatama Sub-county, who alerted authorities after finding the body lying in the garden.
The deceased was found dressed only in green shorts, and a white polythene bag containing a white hen was found beside the body.
Police said the victim had multiple wounds across his body, raising suspicion that he may have been attacked by a mob.
The incident was registered at Kibuku Central Police Station under CRB 078/2026 and SD reference 26/07/03/2026.
A police team led by Kibuku District Police Commander SP Turyatemba Dick visited the scene alongside officers from the Canine Unit and the Scenes of Crime Office (SOCO).

SOCO officer AIP Abeker Moses examined and documented the crime scene while statements were recorded from witnesses.
However, canine tracking could not be conducted after the scene had been tampered with before police arrived.
The body was later transported to Kibuku Health Centre IV where it awaits a postmortem examination to establish the exact cause of death.
ASP Wilfred Kyempasa, the Police Public Relations Officer for the Bukedi North Region, confirmed the incident and warned the public against taking the law into their own hands.
“We urge the public to stop taking the law into their own hands and always report matters to relevant authorities,” Kyempasa said.
Police say investigations are ongoing to establish the identity of the deceased and determine the circumstances that led to his death.
Mob justice cases remain a persistent challenge in parts of eastern Uganda, including Kibuku District, where communities sometimes resort to violence over suspected petty crimes such as theft.
