Kampala, Uganda: The Manager of the Office of the National Chairman (ONC), Hajjat Hadijah Namyalo, on Monday evening hosted Muslim leaders and National Resistance Movement (NRM) district chairpersons for an Iftar dinner at the ONC offices in Kyambogo.

The gathering, held during the holy month of Ramadan, brought together religious leaders and political figures to break the fast in a spirit of unity, reflection and community solidarity.

The event was part of Namyalo’s ongoing Ramadan outreach activities aimed at strengthening ties between the Office of the National Chairman and the Muslim community while promoting values of faith, compassion and togetherness.

Addressing the guests, Namyalo thanked Muslim leaders for their prayers and NRM district chairpersons for honoring the invitation.

She urged leaders to mobilize communities to embrace government programs focused on wealth creation and poverty eradication.

“Poverty knows no religion and it knows no tribe. That is why we must all embrace the message of wealth creation championed by President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni,” Namyalo said.

She also encouraged women to work hard in their homes and communities, noting that strong and hardworking women contribute to stable families.

“Women must also work hard. When women are hardworking, they build strong families and make marriages stable and peaceful,” she added.

The delegation of NRM district chairpersons was led by John Baptist Wamala, the Mukono District NRM Chairperson and National Coordinator for Municipal and City Division Chairpersons.

Wamala praised Namyalo for what he described as strong grassroots mobilization that has brought the Office of the National Chairman closer to ordinary citizens.

“Her outreach programs helped strengthen support for President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni in Buganda where we witnessed a strong vote for the NRM,” Wamala said.

He noted that district chairpersons appreciate the engagement initiatives led by Namyalo because they help bridge the gap between the party leadership and communities.

Also speaking at the gathering, Christopher Nkoyoyo, the NRM District Chairperson for Nakasongola, thanked Namyalo for organizing the dinner and prayed for blessings upon her work.

“We thank Hajjat Namyalo for organizing this Iftar dinner and for her commitment to supporting the work of the President,” Nkoyoyo said.

Namyalo also pledged to follow up on issues raised by the NRM district chairpersons, including reminding the President about vehicles that had earlier been pledged to them and arranging a meeting with him.

“I will follow up on the issues you have raised, including the vehicles and the meeting with the President, because your work at the grassroots is important for strengthening our movement,” she said.

During the event, Muslim clerics led prayers and delivered sermons highlighting the spiritual significance of Ramadan.

Sheikh Taibu Mutyaba, Director of Bilal Islamic Institute Kakyiri, reminded the faithful of the purpose of fasting, quoting from the Holy Qur’an.

“O you who believe, fasting is prescribed for you as it was prescribed for those before you, so that you may attain righteousness,” he said, citing Qur’an 2:183.

The event was also attended by Sheikh Hussein Sekajja, the Super Supreme Kadhi of Kampala, who represented the Supreme Mufti as the chief guest.

After prayers and speeches, Muslim faithful broke the fast together and shared a meal in an atmosphere of fellowship and reflection.

The Iftar dinner followed similar outreach activities organized by Namyalo across the country, including a recent Iftar gathering in Iganga District and another major event at Lugogo Millennium Park attended by President Museveni.
