Kampala, Uganda: Senior Educationist and Vice Chancellor of Victoria University, Prof Lawrence Muganga Koreta, has welcomed the 2025 Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (UACE) results, describing the nearly 99% pass rate as a major milestone for Uganda’s education sector.

The 2025 UACE Results released on Friday by the Education Minister, First Lady HonJanet Kataaha Museveni, showed an overall improvement in performance and a rise in the number of candidates qualifying for university admission

Muganga congratulated the Education Ministry, UNEB, teachers, parents and candidates for what he described as a collective achievement for the country’s education system.

“As an educator, I am deeply encouraged by today’s UACE results released by the First Lady and Minister of Education, Hon. Janet Museveni. A near 99% pass rate is a remarkable milestone for Uganda’s education system,” Muganga said.

Despite the strong results, Muganga urged education authorities to focus on ensuring the curriculum equips learners with practical skills needed to solve real-world challenges. “Our next step must be grounding the curriculum in real-world environments so students can solve real community problems,” he noted.

The senior educator said Uganda’s education system should place greater emphasis on problem-solving, innovation and practical application of knowledge to prepare learners for modern economic demands.

Push for AI in education

Muganga also called for the introduction of technology and artificial intelligence (AI) in schools to enhance learning outcomes.

“Our next step must be grounding the curriculum in real world environments so students can solve real community problems. We must also bring technology, especially AI, into our schools,” he said, suggesting that if resources are limited, the rollout of AI-enabled learning could begin at the Advanced Level (A-level) as a pilot before expanding to lower levels.

Muganga commended stakeholders across the education sector for their contribution to the improved performance and expressed optimism that continued reforms and innovation would transform Uganda’s education system. “Well done, Ministry of Education. One day, we shall reach the education promised land,” hevsaid.
