FUFA NBL: Obleng powers Namuwongo Blazers to victory over Victoria Crocs

Lugogo, Kampala: Namuwongo Blazers delivered a commanding performance to defeat Victoria Crocs 69–51 on Sunday, with Peter Obleng starring in the National Basketball League clash.

Obleng recorded a double-double of 25 points and 12 rebounds, leading the Blazers to a convincing victory at the Lugogo Indoor Arena.

The game began evenly, with the Crocs edging the first quarter 17–15, powered by early three-pointers from Bienfait Lola Minani and strong rebounding by Okello James.

However, Obleng’s three-point shot signaled a shift in momentum as the Blazers responded strongly in the second quarter.

Namuwongo dominated the period, outscoring the Crocs 21–5 to take a 36–22 halftime lead, with contributions from Jimmy Enabu, Henry Ssebagala, and Makiadi Micheal.

The Blazers extended their dominance in the third quarter, with Obleng and Enabu continuing to score efficiently.

Arthur Wanyoto added key layups and rebounds as the lead stretched to 19 points, effectively putting the game beyond Crocs’ reach.

In the final quarter, the Blazers maintained pressure through free throws and fast breaks, with bench players Shakiru Hamid and Lubangakene Enoch adding crucial points to seal the victory.

Obleng shot 10 of 19 from the field, including 5 of 10 from beyond the arc, in a standout individual performance.

Supporting contributions included Arthur Wanyoto: 10 points, 7 rebounds, Jimmy Enabu: 9 points, 6 rebounds, 4 assists, and Henry Ssebagala: 6 points, 4 rebounds. Bench players also played a key role in maintaining momentum throughout the game.

Other results

Elsewhere in the men’s league, City Oilers defeated KCCA Panthers 71–60, led by Fayed Baale (18 points) and Titus Lual (12).

Sommet BC edged JT Jaguars 74–72 in a tightly contested encounter.

In the women’s division, UCU Lady Canons defeated Miracle Eaglets 54–36, continuing their strong start to the season.

Pearl Queens also impressed with a 70–39 win over Angels Basketball Club.

On Saturday, JKL Lady Dolphins dominated Angels 88–38, while KCCA Leopards beat UPDF Lady Tomahawks 66–44.

On Friday, City Oilers extended their unbeaten start with a 66–60 win over Sommet BC, with Landry Ndikumana and Titus Lual scoring 14 points each.
