Kampala, Uganda: Police at Wandegeya Division are holding in custody two suspects arrested with dangerous weapons during a routine patrol operation in the early hours of Tuesday.
According to Kampala Metropolitan Police Deputy spokesperson, ASP Luke Owoyesigyire, the suspects identified as Omirambe Nizara (18) and Ochom Daniel (23), both residents of Kawempe Division, were apprehended near Nyumbani Hotel in Makerere Kikoni.
“The arrest occurred in the early hours of 18th March 2026 at around 12:23 am during a routine patrol by officers from Kikoni B Police Station near Nyumbani Hotel. The officers encountered a group of about six youths who fled upon seeing the police. Two suspects were apprehended,” Mr Owoyesigyire said in a Thursday police statement.

Upon search, Omirambe was found in possession of a panga and a knife concealed on his person, raising suspicion of potential criminal activity.
The duo is currently being held at Wandegeya Police Division as investigations continue.
Owoyesigyire confirmed that a case file has been prepared and is pending submission to the Resident State Attorney for legal advice.
He said investigations are ongoing to establish the suspects’ intentions and to track down the other individuals who fled the scene.
