OYAM, UGANDA: Police in Northern Uganda’s Oyam District have launched investigations into a gruesome murder after a 28-year-old man was found dead in a septic pit under construction in Kamdini Town Council.
The deceased, identified as Omaa Solomon, a peasant farmer from Alyec Village in Pukica Parish, is believed to have been attacked in the early hours of March 17, 2026, at around 2:00 a.m.
According to police, the body was discovered later that morning by Akot Patricia, a businesswoman and proprietor of Mok Tami Restaurant, where the deceased had reportedly been staying.
“I woke up in the morning to start my usual work, only to discover something unusual near the construction site. When I looked closely, I realised it was a human body,” Akot said. “I was shocked and immediately informed the police.”
North Kyoga Regional Police spokesperson Jimmy Patrick Okema said preliminary investigations indicate that the victim was attacked by unknown assailants inside the restaurant premises along Kampala Road.
“The deceased is suspected to have been stabbed multiple times using a sharp object by unidentified individuals. After the attack, the assailants dumped the body in a septic pit under construction,” Okema said.

Police dispatched a team of detectives and uniformed officers to process the scene, and statements have since been recorded from key witnesses.
“The body has been conveyed to Anyeke Health Centre IV for postmortem examination, and efforts to identify and apprehend the suspects are ongoing,” Okema added.
Local leaders have condemned the killing, describing it as shocking and unprecedented in the area. LC1 Chairperson of Township Cell, Ojok Francis, urged residents to remain calm but vigilant while cooperating with security agencies.
“This is a very unfortunate and frightening incident for our community. We have never experienced such a brutal act here,” Ojok said. He called on police to expedite investigations and ensure the perpetrators are brought to justice.
Residents have since raised concerns over security, calling for increased night patrols and tighter measures in trading centres.
Police have appealed to the public to provide any information that could aid investigations, stressing that community cooperation will be key in solving the case.
