Sudhir, Ruparelia Foundation honored for commendable role in success of Kampala City Festival

KCCA has awarded the Ruparelia Foundation for its role in the Kampala City Festival 2025, recognising its contribution to urban transformation and city vibrancy.

Kampala, Uganda: The Executive Director of Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA), Hajjat Sharifah Buzeki, has honoured the Ruparelia Foundation with an Appreciation Award in recognition of its outstanding contribution to the Kampala City Festival 2025.

The Foundation, a philanthropic arm of the Ruparelia Group owned by businessman Sudhir Ruparelia, was specifically recognised for its role in enhancing Kampala’s vibrancy, attractiveness, and sustainability through strategic partnerships and community-driven initiatives.

The Kampala City Festival 2025, one of Uganda’s largest public events, attracted tens of thousands of revelers to the capital, showcasing the city’s cultural diversity, business potential, and entertainment industry.

The festival, organised by KCCA, featured street parades, music performances, food exhibitions, and community engagement activities aimed at promoting tourism, urban identity, and economic activity within the city.

In the runup to and during the event, Ruparelia Foundation played a central role in supporting the festival’s organisation, branding, and execution, contributing to its success as a safe, inclusive, and high-impact urban event.

Private sector shaping city transformation

Under the leadership of Sudhir Ruparelia, the Foundation has become a key player in urban development initiatives in Kampala, complementing government efforts to modernise the city.

Through investments in real estate, hospitality, education, and corporate social responsibility programmes, the Ruparelia Group has significantly contributed to shaping Kampala’s skyline and economic landscape.

From landmark developments such as commercial buildings, hotels, and educational institutions to community outreach initiatives, the Group’s footprint continues to influence the capital’s growth and transformation.

Beyond business: community impact

The Ruparelia Foundation has also led various social interventions, including health camps, education support programmes, and urban community initiatives aimed at improving livelihoods.

Its involvement in events such as Kampala City Festival reflects a broader commitment to promoting social cohesion, youth engagement, and inclusive development within the city.

KCCA officials noted that partnerships with private sector actors like the Ruparelia Foundation are critical in driving Kampala’s vision of becoming a modern, organised, and livable city.

The KCCA award to Ruparelia underscores the growing role of private sector participation in urban governance and development, particularly in supporting large-scale public events that boost tourism and local economies.

City authorities say such collaborations will continue to be strengthened to ensure Kampala remains competitive, vibrant, and attractive both regionally and globally.
