Lango, Buganda, Bunyoro and Acholi confirmed for FUFA Drum semi-finals

Lango, Buganda, Bunyoro and Acholi have qualified for the FUFA Drum semi-finals after intense quarter-final matches across Uganda.

Kampala, Uganda: Defending champions Lango, alongside Buganda, Bunyoro, and Acholi, have advanced to the semi-finals of the FUFA Drum tournament following a series of tightly contested quarter-final second-leg matches played across the country.

The weekend fixtures delivered drama, narrow margins, and high-stakes football, underlining the competitive intensity of Uganda’s premier cultural football competition.

Lango Province continued their title defence with a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Teso Province in the return leg.

Emmanuel Okech scored the decisive goal, sealing a 1-0 aggregate win and keeping Lango firmly on course to retain the trophy. Uganda Cranes star Allan Okello was also present, cheering on the team from the stands.

For Buganda Province, the semi-final spot was decided on the away goals rule after a 1-1 draw with Tooro Province in the second leg.

Tooro struck first through Joseph Ssenyange, but Vianne Sekajugo responded with a crucial equaliser for Buganda. With the aggregate score tied at 1-1, Buganda advanced courtesy of their away goal advantage.

Bunyoro Province secured qualification with a narrow but decisive 1-0 win over West Nile Province. Kabong Living netted the only goal of the match, ensuring Bunyoro progressed with a 1-0 aggregate victory across the two legs.

Yet Acholi Province needed penalties to overcome a resilient Busoga side after a 1-1 draw in the second leg left the aggregate score at 2-2.

Isaac Wagoina gave Busoga the lead before Emmanuel Ojok equalised for Acholi, forcing a shootout.

Acholi held their nerve to win 3-1 on penalties, with goalkeeper Wokorach Jeans Braddy scoring the decisive spot-kick in a dramatic finish.

The results set up a highly competitive semi-final stage, with four strong provinces eyeing the prestigious FUFA Drum title.
