Bukedea, Uganda: Bukedea County MP-elect David Beecham Okwere has unveiled a fully equipped, state-of-the-art ambulance to strengthen emergency healthcare services in the district.
The ambulance, secured in partnership with Speaker of Parliament Anita Among, was launched during the ongoing free eye care camp at Bukedea Teaching Hospital.
Speaking at the handover, Hon Okwere described the ambulance as a major upgrade from conventional emergency vehicles. “This is not like the usual ambulances you see in other districts. This is a moving hospital,” he said.
“It is fully equipped with essential medical equipment to provide immediate care while patients are in transit.”

Hon Okwere noted that the ambulance will significantly improve access to timely medical care, particularly in rural areas where delays in transportation often cost lives.
He emphasized that the initiative forms part of broader efforts to strengthen healthcare delivery and improve community wellbeing in Bukedea.
The MP-elect credited Speaker Anita Among for her continued support in delivering key services to the district. He emphasized the importance of partnerships in advancing development, pledging to sustain collaboration with stakeholders to improve livelihoods.

The event at which the ambulance was unveiled attracted several dignitaries, including businessman Sudhir Ruparelia and the Emorimor of Teso, Paul Sande Emolot.
Members of the Indian business community, led by businessman Sudhir Ruparelia, Bukedea district leaders, and Members of Parliament from across the country also attended, reflecting wide support for the initiative.
The ambulance rollout comes alongside ongoing health initiatives in the district, including the large-scale eye care camp that has already benefited thousands.
