Sudhir warns public over fake AI video using his identity to promote online investment scam

The video, which has spread across multiple social media platforms, uses synthetic voice and manipulated visuals to mimic Sudhir, urging viewers to invest in what is presented as a lucrative financial opportunity.

Kampala, Uganda: Business magnate Dr Sudhir Ruparelia has warned the public against a fake AI-generated video circulating online that falsely portrays him endorsing a dubious investment platform known as “OredexiaMarket.”

The video, which has spread across multiple social media platforms, uses synthetic voice and manipulated visuals to mimic Sudhir, urging viewers to invest in what is presented as a lucrative financial opportunity.

Sudhir categorically disowned the platform and the video, describing it as a dangerous misuse of artificial intelligence. “This is completely fake. I have not launched any such app, and I am not involved in anything called OredexiaMarket,” he said.

“People must be extremely cautious. AI is now being misused to deceive the public.”

Sophisticated deepfake tactics

The clip features a highly convincing cloned voice and is packaged with visuals resembling a credible news outlet, giving it a false sense of legitimacy.

In the manipulated footage, the fake voice encourages viewers to “take advantage of this opportunity” and join the platform to “help families become wealthier”, a tactic commonly associated with online financial scams.

Veteran journalist Andrew Irumba, who verified the claims with Sudhir, described the incident as a warning about the growing threat of AI-driven fraud.

“This is no longer speculation; AI is actively being weaponized. The public must verify every investment claim before committing their money,” Irumba cautioned.

Digital security observers warn that deepfake scams are increasingly targeting prominent individuals to exploit public trust.

Authorities and experts are urging the public to ignore the video, avoid engaging with the platform, and rely only on verified sources when considering financial investments.

The incident highlights the growing risks posed by emerging technologies, as fraudsters adopt more sophisticated tools to deceive unsuspecting victims.
