Govt boosts Kagumba HCIII with Shs 128m medical equipment

The consignment, comprising hospital beds, stretchers, a microscope, and other laboratory equipment is aimed at improving patient care at Kagumba Health Centre

Kamuli, Uganda: The government has strengthened healthcare service delivery in Kamuli District with the donation of medical equipment worth Shs 128 million to Kagumba Health Centre III.

The equipment was officially handed over by Resident District Commissioner (RDC) Rose Birungi during a ceremony held at Kagumba HCIII in Kagumba Sub-county.

The consignment includes hospital beds, stretchers, a microscope, and other laboratory equipment aimed at improving patient care and diagnostic services.

District Health Officer Waako James said the support will reduce congestion at higher-level facilities and bring services closer to communities.

“The equipment will go a long way in improving healthcare services. Our people have been moving long distances to access better care, but now services are extended nearer to them,” he said.

RDC Birungi urged both health workers and the community to safeguard and properly utilise the equipment. “Let us own this equipment and ensure it benefits our community,” she said.

Another resident, Okello John, welcomed the government’s intervention, saying it will positively impact many households in the area.

Mr Walaade Ahmed, the supplier, confirmed that health workers have been trained to operate the new equipment. “The staff are now equipped to use this machinery effectively to deliver quality healthcare,” he said.

The donation is expected to significantly improve service delivery at Kagumba HCIII and strengthen the district’s healthcare system.
