Kampala, Uganda: The Uganda Communications Commission (UCC) has ordered the immediate suspension of the song “Mukube Paver” by Dynaso Wegoso across all media platforms, citing concerns that it promotes violence and poses a risk to public safety.
In a public notice issued Tuesday, April 7, 2026, UCC said it had received numerous complaints regarding the song’s content and influence, prompting a regulatory review under the Uganda Communications Act.
“The song explicitly and implicitly promotes, incites, and glorifies violence and aggressive conduct,” the Commission stated.
UCC further warned that the song has already triggered dangerous imitation behaviour, particularly on social media platforms where people appeared to be mimicking violent acts.
“The song has triggered dangerous imitation behaviour, including a growing trend of harmful ‘challenge’ activities on platforms such as TikTok and other social media, where especially young people are mimicking and glorifying violent acts,” the statement added.
The regulator said continued circulation of such content threatens societal values and public safety, and violates established broadcasting standards.
As a result, UCC has directed all broadcasters to immediately halt the airing, distribution, and any form of promotion or discussion of the song until further notice.

“All broadcasters shall immediately suspend any programs, discussions, or content that promote, analyze, or reference the song,” the directive reads.
The order extends to digital platforms, with internet service providers, online content providers, and streaming services instructed to remove and block access to the song and any related material.
“All online content providers, internet service providers, social media platforms, and digital streaming services are directed to immediately remove, disable access to, and prevent further upload or sharing of the said song and related content,” UCC stated.
The Commission warned that individuals who continue to share or distribute the prohibited content risk legal consequences, including fines or imprisonment.
“Any person who contravenes this directive commits an offence and is liable, upon conviction, to a fine not exceeding forty-eight (48) currency points, imprisonment for a term not exceeding two (2) years, or both,” the notice warned.
UCC has also summoned singer Wegoso to appear before the Commission on April 16, 2026, to respond to the findings and discuss possible corrective measures surrounding his song.
The regulator emphasized its commitment to promoting responsible content that upholds public morality, safety, and national values, urging compliance from all stakeholders.
