Adjumani, Uganda: Police in West Nile have arrested a suspect in connection with the theft of a motorcycle after a canine (K9) unit successfully tracked him down in a swift overnight operation in Adjumani Town Council.
North West Nile Regional Police Spokesperson SP Collins Asea said the theft occurred on Easter Sunday, April 6, 2026, at around 11:15 pm, when the complainant parked his Honda Brazil Red motorcycle (Registration No. UGH 155H) at his verandah before going to sleep.
He reported the theft to Adjumani Central Police Station (CPS) at about 6:00 am after discovering the motorcycle missing.
“Officers from Adjumani CPS, accompanied by a canine unit, visited the scene and successfully tracked and arrested the suspect,” SP Asea said.

The suspect has been identified as Goma Saddam, a 26-year-old carpenter from Forua Cell, Central Ward in Adjumani Town Council.
Police confirmed that a case of theft of a motor vehicle has been opened under reference ADJ SD 03/07/04/2026, with Scene of Crime officers documenting the scene alongside the canine team.
The suspect is currently in custody and assisting police with ongoing investigations.
The recently released Uganda Police Annual Crime Report (2025) indicated that property-related crimes, including theft, remain among the most reported offences, often linked to opportunistic targeting of unsecured assets.
Police say the increasing deployment of K9 units has significantly enhanced suspect tracking and recovery of stolen property, particularly in cases involving overnight thefts.
