Umukuka pushes for modern stadium construction in Bugisu

Mbale City, Uganda: The Umukuka of Bugisu, Jude Mike Mudoma, has pledged to lobby government for the construction of a modern stadium in the Bugisu sub-region to boost sports development and youth talent.

The cultural leader made the remarks while officiating at the 2026 UMEA Solidarity Games tournament hosted at Nkoma Secondary School in Mbale where he officiated as chief gues.

In his address to the guests, Umukuka Mudoma emphasized the need for improved sports infrastructure in Bugisu, noting that the region has immense untapped talent that requires proper facilities to thrive.

He pledged to engage government authorities to prioritize the construction of a modern stadium to support youth development and regional competitions.

He commended Nkoma Secondary School for promoting the Lumasaba language through its curriculum and for extending scholarship opportunities to learners connected to the Bugisu cultural institution.

The Umukuka, accompanied by Culture Minister Moses Kutoi and other officials, first inspected infrastructure projects at Nkoma Secondary School before proceeding to Mbale Stadium to officially open the tournament.

The tournament brought together over 30 Muslim schools from across Uganda, highlighting the growing role of sports in fostering unity, discipline, and talent among learners.
