Adjumani, Uganda: Police in Adjumani District have arrested a 26-year-old carpenter in connection with the theft of a motorcycle, following a swift canine-led operation.
The suspect, identified as Goma Saddam, a resident of Forua Cell in Central Ward, Adjumani Town Council, is currently in police custody to assist with ongoing investigations.
According to the North West Nile Regional Police Spokesperson, SP Collins Asea, the incident occurred on the night of Monday, April 6, 2026, at around 11:15 pm.
“The complainant had parked his red Honda Brazil motorcycle, registration number UGH 155H, on his verandah before going to sleep. When he woke up at around 6:00 am, he discovered that the motorcycle was missing,” Asea said.
The matter was reported to Adjumani Central Police Station (CPS) at approximately 6:41 am on April 7, prompting an immediate response from police.

A team of officers, accompanied by a canine unit and Scene of Crime officers, visited the scene and tracked the suspect, leading to his arrest.
Police have since registered the case as theft of a motor vehicle under reference ADJ SD 03/07/04/2026.
The arrest comes amid growing concern over motorcycle thefts, particularly involving boda bodas, which remain a primary source of livelihood and transport across Uganda.
According to the Uganda Police Annual Crime Report 2025, theft of motorcycles continues to rank among the most common property-related crimes, with many cases linked to night-time theft and weak security measures at residential premises.
Police have urged the public to strengthen security around their property, especially during night hours, and to promptly report suspicious activity. Investigations into the case are ongoing.
