Kampala, Uganda: The Ruparelia Group is in the final stages of completing its flagship Paradise Island Resort on Lake Victoria, with the luxury destination set to open its first phase in June.

Construction activity has intensified in recent weeks as developers race to meet timelines, with one of the most notable features, a 500-metre man-made beach, now nearing completion.

Sources close to the project indicate that excavation works for the beach are complete, with the remaining phase involving the transportation and spreading of sand along the shoreline to create a distinctive lakeside leisure space.

The beach is expected to serve as a central attraction, offering guests a curated waterfront experience designed to combine relaxation, scenic views, and a tropical aesthetic within the island setting.

Multi-Billion Tourism Investment Nears Launch

The resort, developed by Ugandan billionaire businessman, Dr Sudhir Ruparelia, is situated on a 19-acre private island approximately 20 minutes by speedboat from Speke Resort Munyonyo.

It has been designed as a high-end hospitality facility, featuring a range of accommodation options including standard cottages, cliff-hanger cottages, deluxe two-bedroom cottages, and executive villas, all positioned to maximise views of the lake.

The development is among the most ambitious private tourism investments on Lake Victoria, reflecting growing interest in positioning Uganda as a premium leisure destination in the region.

Final works have also included the deployment of a custom-built barge to support operations on the island. The vessel is expected to play a key role in transporting construction materials and operational supplies, particularly during the final stages of completion.

Project insiders say the June opening will mark the beginning of phased operations, allowing guests to access selected facilities as additional components of the resort are completed.

Strategic Push for Luxury Tourism

For the Ruparelia Group, the Paradise Island Resort represents a strategic investment aimed at redefining luxury tourism offerings in Uganda while leveraging the natural appeal of Lake Victoria.

The project is expected to contribute to the country’s hospitality sector by attracting both domestic and international high-end travellers seeking exclusive island experiences.

With finishing works now underway and key features taking shape, the resort is on course for its highly anticipated debut in June.
