Kampala Queens, Kawempe Muslim slip as She Corporate tightens grip on FUFA WSL title

Kampala, Uganda: She Corporate FC tightened their grip on the FUFA Women Super League title race after Matchday 19, capitalising on slip-ups from both Kampala Queens and Kawempe Muslim Ladies to move two points clear at the top with just three games remaining.

The decisive weekend saw reigning champions Kampala Queens FC fall further out of contention after a disappointing 2-0 home defeat to Amus College WFC at MTN Omondi Stadium, Lugogo.

Zabinah Namboozo struck twice to condemn the Queens to yet another setback in what has been a difficult second round. The defending champions have now managed just three wins in eight matches and sit third on 32 points, 15 behind the leaders.

Title contenders Kawempe Muslim Ladies FC also suffered a major blow, losing 1-0 to Makerere University WFC at Nsibirwa Grounds.

Former Kawempe player Halima Kampi netted the decisive goal, handing Kawempe only their second defeat of the season and leaving them on 45 points.

She Corporate Seize Control

At Olila Ground in Soroti, She Corporate FC secured a crucial 1-0 win over Olila High School WFC, thanks to a 74th-minute strike from Maureen Nankinga.

The victory lifted She Corporate to 47 points, opening a two-point lead at the summit and placing them firmly in control of the title race heading into the final stretch.

Elsewhere, Uganda Martyrs Lubaga WFC boosted their top-four hopes with a commanding 3-0 win over Asubo Ladies FC, courtesy of goals from Sharon Kanyiginya, Shallon Nabowa, and Angel Auki Kigongo.

Meanwhile, Rines SS and Lady Doves played out a goalless draw, leaving both sides mid-table.
