Kampala, Uganda: The 2025/26 Stanbic Uganda Cup semi-final draw has set up a blockbuster clash between defending champions Vipers SC and 2024 winners Kitara FC in a high-stakes two-legged showdown.

The draw, conducted on Thursday at UMOJA House in Nakasero under the supervision of FUFA Competitions Director Shawn Mubiru, confirmed two heavyweight ties featuring four of Uganda’s top clubs.

Kitara FC will host the first leg at Royal Park Butema in Hoima between May 1 and 3, before travelling to St Mary’s Stadium, Kitende for the decisive second leg scheduled between May 15 and 17.

The fixture renews a growing rivalry between the two sides, who recently settled for a goalless draw in the Uganda Premier League.

Vipers eliminated Kitara at the same semi-final stage last season, winning both legs 1-0 en route to lifting their fourth Uganda Cup title, with Abdul-Karim Watambala scoring the decisive goal in Butema.

However, Kitara will draw confidence from their own history against the Venoms. In the 2023 Uganda Cup quarter-finals, they stunned Vipers 5-4 on penalties after a 2-2 draw, with Paul Mucureezi netting twice before converting the winning spot kick.

URA face SC Villa

In the other semi-final, Uganda Revenue Authority (URA) FC will take on record nine-time winners Sports Club Villa.

The tax collectors will host the first leg at Hamz Stadium, Nakivubo War Memorial Grounds, before Villa welcome them for the return leg at FUFA Stadium, Kadiba.

SC Villa, the most successful club in Uganda Cup history with nine titles, will be aiming to extend their legacy, while URA, three-time champions, seek a return to glory.

With four competitive sides left, the semi-finals promise high-intensity football as clubs battle for a place in the Uganda Cup final.
