Mukono, Uganda: Police in Mukono District have arrested three suspects in connection with the murder of a casual worker at Makipi Factory, in a breakthrough aided by a sniffer dog that tracked crucial evidence from the crime scene.
The deceased has been identified as Kamugisha Justas, whose killing prompted a swift police response on April 19, 2026.
According to preliminary police findings, investigators deployed a canine unit that tracked scent and evidence from the scene, including a cap believed to belong to the deceased.
The trail led officers to a residence where one of the suspects, Kabogoza Charles Kiwanuka, was found hiding.

Kabogoza was arrested and reportedly confessed to the murder, implicating two other suspects, Ozambe James and Mwayafu Julius Joshua, who were later apprehended.
Police also mentioned Kazibwe Chrisisto as a person of interest in the ongoing investigations.
Authorities say efforts are underway to establish the motive behind the killing and determine the extent of involvement of each suspect.
The suspects remain in custody as police prepare the case file for submission to the Resident State Attorney.
The incident adds to growing concerns over violent crime, with authorities urging the public to cooperate with security agencies by reporting suspicious activity.
