Pallisa, Uganda: Gogonyo County Member of Parliament, Hon Derrick Orone, has donated a new Coaster minibus to support youth groups, sports teams and community activities across the constituency.
The vehicle, registration number UA 818CX, was officially handed over during a ceremony attended by local leaders, youth representatives and residents from various parts of Gogonyo County.
During the event, Hon. Orone presented the minibus to Pallisa Resident District Commissioner Dhikusooka Majidu, who subsequently handed it over to the community on behalf of the government.
Community leaders said the vehicle is expected to address longstanding transport challenges affecting youth groups, sports teams and local associations that frequently travel for competitions, training programmes and community engagements.
Speaking at the function, Orone thanked residents for entrusting him with another term in Parliament and reaffirmed his commitment to supporting development initiatives in the constituency.
“This minibus is one of the commitments I made to the people of Gogonyo. I remain committed to serving the constituency and addressing the challenges affecting our communities,” Orone said.
RDC Dhikusooka Majidu commended the legislator for the initiative and urged community members to ensure proper management and maintenance of the vehicle so that it benefits all residents.
He noted that community assets require collective responsibility to guarantee their sustainability and long-term impact.

Residents welcomed the donation, describing it as a timely intervention that will improve mobility for youth groups and support community development activities across the constituency.
The handover ceremony attracted hundreds of residents, local leaders and youth representatives from different parts of Gogonyo County.
