Kampala, Uganda: The Undersecretary and Accounting Officer at the Ministry of Finance, Planning and Economic Development, Dr Sengonzi Damulira, has been recognised as Uganda’s Public Finance Management Champion in recognition of his contribution to strengthening public financial management and advancing the country’s national development agenda.
The accolade was presented by Public Opinions under the Responsible Investment Global Award, an initiative that recognises individuals whose work has significantly contributed to Uganda’s socio-economic transformation.
Presenting the award, Public Opinions Team Leader Buyinza Adam Luzindana commended Dr Sengonzi for his commitment to promoting sound public financial management and supporting the government’s development priorities.
He described the Finance Ministry official as a dedicated public servant whose leadership continues to strengthen Uganda’s financial management systems.
“Dr Sengonzi is a man committed to achieving the national development agenda and a man loyal to President Museveni,” Buyinza said.
According to Public Opinions Intl, Dr Sengonzi has played a key role in enhancing the integrity and efficiency of Uganda’s public finance systems through initiatives aimed at improving budget management, accountability, and transparency.
The organisation also credited him with supporting financial inclusion and ensuring that government financial strategies remain aligned with the country’s long-term sustainable development objectives.
“His efforts have been central to promoting budget transparency and advancing financial inclusion, ensuring that national financial strategies remain aligned with the broader goals of sustainable economic growth,” Buyinza noted.
Receiving the award, Dr Sengonzi welcomed the recognition and reaffirmed his commitment to serving the country through prudent management of public resources.
He pledged to continue executing his responsibilities diligently while ensuring that government resources are utilised efficiently to improve the lives of Ugandans.
“I remain committed to diligently executing my mandate and ensuring that public resources directly benefit the citizens,” Dr Sengonzi said.
The recognition comes at a time when the Ministry of Finance is implementing key reforms aimed at strengthening public financial management, enhancing accountability in government expenditure, expanding digital financial systems, and supporting Uganda’s ambition of achieving a tenfold economic growth strategy.
The Responsible Investment Global Award seeks to celebrate individuals and institutions whose leadership and innovation contribute to responsible governance, sustainable investment and national development.
