From horse riding lessons and pony care to stable management and swimming, Speke Resort Munyonyo’s One Day Pony Camp returns on July 11, promising children a memorable outdoor learning experience that blends fun, confidence-building and practical equestrian skills.

Kampala, Uganda – Speke Resort Munyonyo has announced the return of its highly anticipated One Day Pony Camp, inviting children and families to experience one of Uganda’s most unique holiday programmes that combines horse riding, practical learning and outdoor recreation.

Scheduled for Saturday, July 11, 2026, the day-long camp will run from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., offering participants an immersive introduction to the world of horses under the guidance of the resort’s experienced equestrian instructors.

The programme marks the latest edition of a children’s engagement initiative that has become a favourite among families over the years.

Speke Resort has regularly organised Pony Camps as part of its school holiday calendar, giving children an opportunity to develop confidence, responsibility and teamwork while interacting with horses in a safe and professionally supervised environment.

Unlike ordinary horse rides, the Pony Camp is designed as an educational experience where participants learn not only how to ride but also how to understand, care for and safely handle horses.

And what’s even more special is that this year’s programme will feature structured horse riding lessons, grooming and horse care, stable management and cleaning, horse feeding and nutrition lessons, tacking up through saddling and bridling, horse handling and safety training, lead-rein pony rides for beginners, and a basic jumping demonstration.

To complete the day’s activities, participants will also enjoy a 45-minute swimming session at the resort.

According to Speke Resort management, the camp is open to children of varying experience levels, including complete beginners, with instructors providing step-by-step guidance throughout the day.

Horse Riding in Uganda

Horse riding has increasingly become one of the fastest-growing recreational and developmental activities for children, helping to improve balance, coordination, concentration and self-confidence. Equestrian programmes are also recognised for teaching responsibility, patience, empathy and discipline as children learn to build trust with the animals under their care.

Over the years, Speke Resort Munyonyo has established itself as one of Uganda’s leading destinations for equestrian activities through its well-developed riding facilities, professional trainers and family-friendly programmes.

Besides Pony Camps, the resort regularly hosts horse riding lessons, leisure rides and equestrian experiences for individuals, families and corporate groups.

The return of the Pony Camp is expected to attract families looking for meaningful holiday experiences that combine education with recreation while encouraging children to spend more time outdoors and away from digital screens.

Participation in this year’s camp is UGX 100,000 per child, with advance booking encouraged due to limited spaces. Reservations and enquiries can be made through +256 752 711 857.
