Kampala, Uganda: Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs Hon Kyeyune Haruna Kasolo today received the Letters of Credence of Ms Paula Elizabeth Fitzgerald, the newly appointed Head of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) Country Cluster Delegation for Uganda, South Sudan and Tanzania.
During the meeting, the two reaffirmed the longstanding partnership between the Government of Uganda and the IFRC, with discussions focusing on strengthening cooperation in humanitarian assistance, disaster preparedness, resilience building and support for vulnerable communities across the region.
Kasolo said the government values its collaboration with the IFRC in addressing humanitarian challenges and enhancing emergency response mechanisms.
“During our cordial meeting, we reaffirmed the strong partnership between the Government of Uganda and the IFRC and discussed the importance of continued collaboration in advancing humanitarian assistance, disaster preparedness, resilience building and support for vulnerable communities across the region.”
“I welcome Ms. Fitzgerald to Uganda and wish her every success in her assignment as we look forward to further strengthening our cooperation in pursuit of our shared humanitarian objectives,” Hon Kasolo added.
In her new role, Fitzgerald will oversee the IFRC’s Country Cluster Delegation covering Uganda, South Sudan, and Tanzania, supporting humanitarian programmes and disaster response initiatives across the three countries.
