Namisindwa, Uganda: The Namisindwa District Executive has officially flagged off students who secured government sponsorship for university education, with district leaders urging them to uphold discipline, work hard, and serve as ambassadors of the district.
The students were congratulated during a meeting led by Namisindwa District LC5 Chairperson Bwayo Emma, who commended them for earning places under the government sponsorship scheme and encouraged them to maintain the district’s good reputation throughout their academic journey.
District Inspector of Schools Barnuley Mukisu identified the beneficiaries as Tsemwiri Benjamin, who has been admitted to Kyambogo University to pursue a Bachelor of Education; Lunyolo Merab, admitted to Makerere University for a Bachelor of Education; Simiyu Shedrack, admitted to Makerere University to pursue a Bachelor of Arts in Social Sciences.
Others are Mwalye Ernest, admitted to Makerere University for a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science; Wabuya Fred, admitted to Mbarara University of Science and Technology for a Bachelor of Science in Software Engineering; and Makombe Micloth, admitted to Makerere University for a Bachelor of Science in Education.
Mukisu said all the students are expected to report to their respective universities on August 1.
Addressing the beneficiaries at his office, Bwayo congratulated the students on their achievement and confirmed that they are all bona fide residents of Namisindwa District.
He urged them to remain disciplined, excel academically and become role models for other young people aspiring to benefit from government sponsorship.
Bwayo also appealed to the government to increase the number of sponsorship opportunities available to vulnerable students, saying expanding access to higher education would help more young Ugandans realise their academic potential.
