Tororo, Uganda: Sironko District Woman Member of Parliament Hon. Mafabi Asha Nabulo has praised West Budama North East MP Hon. Richard Owere Machika for what she described as exemplary servant leadership, urging political leaders to prioritize practical solutions that improve the lives of ordinary Ugandans.
Hon Nabulo made the remarks on Saturday, July 25, 2026, while attending a thanksgiving ceremony organized by Hon Machika in Tororo District to thank God and the people of West Budama North East Constituency for electing him as the area Member of Parliament.
The thanksgiving ceremony was organized to celebrate Owere Machika’s election as Member of Parliament for West Budama North East Constituency and to appreciate residents for the confidence they placed in his leadership.
Congratulating Owere on his election victory, Hon Nabulo commended the people of West Budama North East for entrusting leadership to a person she said has consistently demonstrated commitment to community development.
She particularly applauded Owere’s investment in healthcare, citing his support towards emergency medical services through the donation of ambulances to improve access to healthcare for communities.
Nabulo also praised his continued efforts in promoting women’s empowerment and supporting education, describing the two sectors as critical to improving household livelihoods and creating opportunities for young people.
“The kind of service demonstrated by Hon. Owere Richard Machika is what Ugandans need to build a better country. Leaders must remain focused on addressing the practical challenges faced by the people,” Nabulo said.
She pledged to work closely with Owere and other leaders in advancing programmes that improve healthcare delivery, education, women’s empowerment and socio-economic transformation.
According to Nabulo, meaningful national development can only be achieved when leaders embrace cooperation instead of working in isolation.
She said collective leadership remains essential in delivering better services and improving the welfare of communities across Uganda.
Speaker of Parliament Rt. Hon. Jacob Marksons Oboth, who also attended the thanksgiving ceremony, urged Ugandans to unite in the fight against poverty in line with President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni’s socio-economic transformation agenda.
Hon Oboth said poverty eradication requires collective effort from both leaders and citizens, calling on communities to embrace programmes aimed at improving household incomes and transforming livelihoods.
Owere, who also serves as Chairperson of the Tororo Members of Parliament Caucus and heads the Machika Foundation, thanked the people of his constituency for their continued support and reaffirmed his commitment to serving them diligently throughout his tenure.
The event attracted leaders from different parts of the country, who hailed the importance of servant leadership, unity and collaboration in accelerating development and improving service delivery.
