Lyantonde, Uganda: Police in Lyantonde District have arrested a 13-year-old boy over allegations of incitement to violence and promoting sectarianism through content allegedly posted on his TikTok account.
The suspect, identified as Twikirize Clever, alias “Mad Hunter,” is a casual worker and resident of Kooki D Cell in Lyantonde District.
According to Southern Regional Police Spokesperson Twaha Kasirye, preliminary investigations indicate that the juvenile had allegedly been posting videos containing vulgar and offensive language that police say was inappropriate and potentially capable of inciting violence and promoting sectarianism.
“The Police in Lyantonde have arrested Twikirize Clever, alias ‘Mad Hunter,’ a 13-year-old casual worker and resident of Kooki D Cell, Lyantonde District, on allegations of incitement to violence and promoting sectarianism through his TikTok account,” Mr Kasirye said.
He added that the content under investigation allegedly contained abusive language that was considered inappropriate, particularly given the suspect’s age.
Following intelligence-led investigations, officers tracked down the suspect and arrested him at his hideout in Kooki C Cell within Lyantonde District. The juvenile is currently being held in police custody as detectives continue investigating the matter.
Although police have not publicly disclosed the specific TikTok posts that form the basis of the allegations or indicated when the suspect is expected to appear before court, a video reviewed by DailyExpress, which authorities are reportedly investigating in connection with the arrest, shows the juvenile using vulgar and offensive language directed at the First Lady, Janet Museveni, and other prominent women in the country. Police allege the content amounts to incitement to sectarianism and forms part of the ongoing investigations.
