Dunfermline, Scotland: Uganda Cranes midfielder Allan Oyirwoth has joined Scottish Championship side Dunfermline Athletic on loan from New England Revolution, in a move that gives the 19-year-old another opportunity to advance his career in Europe.
The loan runs until May 31, 2027, with Dunfermline holding an option to make the transfer permanent, according to New England Revolution.
Oyirwoth joins the Scottish club after spending the past two seasons in the United States, where he has featured for New England Revolution and its MLS Next Pro side.
He signed for New England Revolution in January 2025 on a contract running through the 2028 MLS season. During his time in the United States, he has made 35 appearances across Major League Soccer (MLS), MLS Next Pro and the US Open Cup, scoring twice.
In the 2026 season, Oyirwoth has featured 15 times for New England Revolution II in MLS Next Pro, scoring once. He also made his MLS debut against Chicago Fire on September 6, 2025, before making his first MLS start against Toronto FC a week later.
Dunfermline head coach Neil Lennon has been monitoring the midfielder for several months and sees him as an addition capable of strengthening his midfield options.
The move marks another step in a promising career that began in Uganda.
Born in Amor and raised in Pakwach, Oyirwoth started his football journey at Kibuli Secondary School, Amus College and MYDA FC before moving to Brooke House College and Academy in Leicester, England, at the age of 17.
While at Amus College, he was named MVP of the Ugandan National Championships and later finished as the leading scorer at the 2023 International Schools Football Tournament in Rabat, Morocco.
His performances also earned him opportunities with Uganda’s youth and senior national teams.
Oyirwoth was part of the Uganda U20 side that won silver at the 2023 African Games in Accra, scoring the winning goal against Senegal during the group stage.
He made his senior Uganda Cranes debut against Somalia in a 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier on November 21, 2023, at the age of 16, and has since added appearances against Kuwait, Cameroon and The Gambia.
The Dunfermline move provides Oyirwoth with an opportunity to gain experience in the Scottish game and compete for regular playing time in the Championship.
Other Ugandan players on the move
Oyirwoth’s move comes amid a period of movement for several Ugandan players with international experience.
Ibrahim Kasule, another Uganda Cranes midfielder who previously played in the United States, began the 2026 season with Connecticut United FC on loan from New York Red Bulls II. Kasule made 64 appearances for Red Bulls II over three seasons, scoring 28 goals and providing 11 assists to become the club’s all-time leading scorer.
Preliminary reports indicate that Kasule has subsequently joined KCCA FC on a two-year contract. That specific 2026 transfer could not be independently verified from the club’s current official sources during our check, so it is best confirmed before publication.
Uganda Cranes defender Rogers Ochaki Torach has also been reported as securing a move abroad from Vipers SC. Torach has represented Uganda at senior, U20 and U23 levels and was part of the Cranes squad at the 2024 CHAN tournament. His inclusion in Uganda’s CHAN squad is independently documented by KCCA FC.
