In Summary: Uganda’s Minister of State for General Duties, Cissy Mulondo, has joined Global Green Growth Institute Chairman Ban Ki-moon and other international leaders at Global Green Growth Week 2026 in Seoul, South Korea, highlighting the need to translate climate commitments into practical investments that support resilient agriculture, clean energy and job creation.

Kampala, Uganda — Minister of State for General Duties Cissy Mulondo has joined Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI) Chairman Ban Ki-moon and other international leaders at Global Green Growth Week 2026 in Seoul, Republic of Korea, where discussions have focused on turning climate commitments into practical investments.

In her reflections from the summit, Hon Mulondo highlighted the need for stronger partnerships, accessible financing and technology to support projects that deliver tangible benefits to communities. She emphasised that climate ambitions must translate into investments that strengthen livelihoods, support economic development and help communities respond to climate-related challenges.

Ms Mulondo also highlighted Africa’s growing cooperation in integrating climate risks into financial planning and mobilising investment. She pointed to the Pan-African Finance Ministers Forum for Climate Action as a platform for peer learning, coordination and joint action on climate-related financial priorities.

Her message comes as African countries seek to mobilise resources for climate adaptation and mitigation while pursuing economic growth and development priorities.

GGGI Chairman Ban Ki-moon urged leaders to move beyond commitments and focus on measurable results through innovation, affordable financing and stronger international cooperation.

According to the summit reflections, Ban emphasised the potential for coordinated climate action to create green jobs, strengthen energy security and build more resilient economies.

For Uganda, the discussions reinforce the importance of integrating climate investment into national development planning and public budgets while mobilising private capital for viable projects.

Priority areas highlighted include resilient agriculture, clean energy and job creation, sectors that can support livelihoods while contributing to broader climate and development objectives.

The focus on bankable projects also points to the need for investment proposals that can attract financing and demonstrate clear economic and community benefits.

Global Green Growth Week 2026 brings together leaders and stakeholders to discuss green growth, climate finance and cooperation. Uganda’s participation provides an opportunity to engage with international partners on financing and practical approaches to climate-resilient development.
