Kampala, Uganda — A 17-year-old student at Aga Khan High School has earned recognition for his interest in emerging technologies after completing Cisco Networking Academy’s Introduction to Modern AI course with a score of 87 per cent.

Preet Goswami’s achievement makes him the first student at Aga Khan High School to complete the particular course, marking a notable milestone in his efforts to develop knowledge and skills in artificial intelligence beyond the regular secondary school curriculum.

The course, completed through Aga Khan Education Service Uganda, introduces learners to artificial intelligence concepts and their applications in the modern technological landscape.

Goswami’s accomplishment highlights the growing opportunities available to young people to explore emerging technologies through online and specialised learning programmes, even while pursuing their ordinary school studies.

Artificial intelligence is increasingly influencing sectors such as education, healthcare, business, communication and scientific research, creating demand for people with the knowledge and skills to understand and apply the technology.

For young learners, exposure to AI education provides an opportunity to understand how these systems work, explore their practical applications and prepare for further studies in technology-related fields.

Goswami said completing the course had strengthened his interest in artificial intelligence and encouraged him to explore further opportunities in the field.

“Completing Cisco Networking Academy’s Introduction to Modern AI course has been a proud and inspiring experience. Scoring 87% in the final examination and becoming the first student at my school to complete the course means a great deal to me. The experience has strengthened my interest in artificial intelligence, and I hope it encourages other young people in Uganda to explore technology, develop digital skills, and pursue their ambitions,” he said.

His achievement was also recognised by his ICT teacher, Tr. Julius, who confirmed that Goswami was the first student at the school to complete the Cisco Networking Academy course.

“Preet Goswami was the first student at Aga Khan High School to complete Cisco Networking Academy’s Introduction to Modern AI course. His initiative, commitment to learning, and interest in emerging technologies are commendable,” the teacher said.
