Former NBS TV Journalist Basajja Mivule Arrested

A group of heavily armed security operatives raided Ntinda based Baba TV and arrested veteran journalist Basajja Mivule on Monday morning during his daily show “Fumintiriza”.

His arrest came a few days after he shared a video on social media, in which he says that he received a phone call from security operatives who said they were from the Directorate of Criminal Intelligence (CID), in the Uganda Police Force, notifying him that he was urgently needed to report to the former Director of Counter Terrorism at the Chieftaincy of Military Intelligence (CMI) a one Brigadier Ddamulira.

“Yesterday evening I received a phone call from security operatives who said they were from Directorate of Criminal  Intelligence, Uganda Police Force notifying me that I was urgently needed by Brigadier Ddamulira for reasons I didn’t know” Mivule said in the video.

His arrest comes days after police arrested four comedians who call themselves Bizonto (the deranged) for allegedly inciting tribalism.

However, the comedians say they intended to teach children, now stuck at home because schools are shut down, about the people who occupy strategic positions in the country.

They listed President Museveni, Chief of Defence Forces Gen David Muhoozi, and Lt Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba, the senior presidential advisor on special operations.
