Election Watch

People Power’s “Wool Beta Souljah” Composes ‘Muzeeyi Ogenda’ in response to Mayinja’s ‘Akalulu Kako Muzeeyi’

Music has undoutedly continued to prime over Uganda’s politics, something which to many has been described as a political wave in the country’s political environment.

Most prominent is current Kyadondo East law maker Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu (Bobi Wine) who is vying for the presidential seat under the National Unity Platform politcal party. in the coming 2021 elections.

Music has been gradually integrated into the mainstream political system, and is no longer mere rhyming, but now a strong weapon to attack and defend one’s views and opinions.

People like Museveni who have since realised the power of music never underestimate it. For the whole last decade, Museveni has always come up with a powerful song to support his cause, and extend his stay in power, he at one as a fact directly recorded a rap campaign song for himself.

A less known artist Wool Beta Souljah has released a new song, a remake of Ronald Mayinja’s Campaign song ‘Akalulu kako Muzeeyi’, which he composed for President Museveni, to counter the message in the original.

Contrary to the original, In ‘Muzei ogenda’, Souljah highlights the evil brought upon Ugandans by incumbent president, Yoweri Tibuhaburwa Kaguta Museveni.

The singer in his lyrics projects that Museveni will not survive this time round, asserting that his time in power has come to an end, and that he will be swept off by the aggressive Bobi wine wave.

He, in his lines punches Museveni for enriching a few Ugandans as the majority starve.

“He has the money and guns but Bobi has the power of the people,” Souljah said, in reference to president Museveni.

In another verse, he directly attacks Ronald Mayinja for changing sides, an action he says was hypocritic of a person who was so trusted by the camp he chose to desert.

Mayinja who recently defected to the NRM from NUP in his original ‘Muzei Akalulu’ song regarded President Yoweri Museveni as a heaven sent saviour who was destined to rule over Uganda supplemented with his highly commendable qualities.

In Mayinja’s song, he also noted out how Museveni’s government has facilitated rural electrification, job creation, and availability of proper health care facilities among other social and economic infrastructures.

Mayinja highly commended Museveni of his wide knowledge and unbeatable intelligence and undefeated tolerance of his enemies.
