LIVE UPDATE: NUP’s Bobi Wine detained in Nalufenya

JINJA: National Unity Platform (NUP) presidential candidate Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu alias Bobi Wine is currently being detained at Nalufenya police post in Jinja, The Daily Express Uganda has understood.

Mr. Kyagulanyi who was earlier arrested in Luuka from his first rally amid tear gas and live bullets was first reported to have been whisked away to unknown location.

In the scuffle and severe brutality as police dispersed and forcefully arrested the NUP presidential candidate, several journalists were teargassed, injured, and rushed to hospitals.

According to Daily Monitor’s Derrick Wandera, the rally had massive numbers of supporters beyond those stated in the COVID-19 guidelines.

Bobi Wine is currently detained at Nalufenya where police is accusing him of defying the Electoral Commission guidelines on Covid-19.

Kyagulanyi’s schedule for today was to campaign in Luuka, Buyende, and Kamuli districts but now the rest of the rallies remain hanging in balance after the arrest.
