Uganda Cranes Keeper Ismael Watenga joins Chippa United on an 18 month load deal from Mamelodi Sundowns

“Uganda national goalkeeper, Ismail Watenga, has officially signed for Chippa United and is available with immediate effect,” a statement from the club said.

“The 25-year-old joins from Sofapaka F.C (Kenya) having signed a 19-month-contract with the club and is already training with the team in Port Elizabeth,” the statement added.

Watenga joins as a replacement for Veil Mothwa who left the Chilli Boys for another DSTV Premiership side Amazulu.

Formerly at Vipers, Watenga has been without a club since terminating his contract with Kenyan side Sofapaka FC in January..
