Bobi Wine to resume campaigns on Wednesday in Kalangala

KAMWYOAK, KAMPALA: Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu aka Bobi Wine the National Unity Platform (NUP) presidential candidate is set to resume his campaigns on Wednesday as he seeks for presidency to oust incumbent Yoweri Museveni from his 35 year tenure.

Bobi Wine who put his campaigns on hold after groundbreaking series of events that saw three journalists – including one on his team – injured and the death of his private bodyguard, Frank Senteza.

Following this series of events, the NUP campaign held a press conference on Tuesday to give an update on their next move.

NUP’s vice-president for Central region, Mathias Mpuuga, told reporters at the party’s head office in Kamwokya, Kampala that Kyagulanyi is set to get back on the campaign trail.

On Wednesday, he will be in the island district of Kalangala.

“Our presidential candidate will resume the campaign trail tomorrow and I want to tell the people in the islands that we are coming to you,” said Mpuuga, who also represents Masaka Municipality in Parliament.

Kyagulanyi is also currently representing Kyadondo East in Parliament

Better known as Bobi Wine, musician-turned-politician Kyagulanyi is in a presidential race that features 11 contestants, including his closest challenger and the incumbent, Yoweri Museveni of the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM).

The contest has one female candidate Nancy Kalembe and the youngest ever presidential candidate in Uganda, 25-year-old John Katumba. They are among the nine first-timers in this race to the State House.

And with the January 14, 2021 elections less than three weeks away, momentum is growing in the various camps.
