UMEME dismisses false claims of a nationwide power shutdown on Jan 14th

KAMPALA, UGANDA: UMEME Uganda Ltd has downplayed of statements making rounds on social media on a planned nationwide shutdown of electricity on election day.

According to UMEME, the forged press release statement is indicating that there is going to be load- shedding starting on 13th to 14th January 2021.

This however didn’t go better after landing into Umeme’s notice which in return they had to clarify through issuing a new statement.

“Umeme has seen a false statement purported to be issued by us communicating Load- shedding on 13th and 14th January 2021. We notify the public to disregard that statement and treat it as fake.” Umeme said in a statement

Umeme added that their commitment is to keep the lights on and ensure that there is no scheduled load-shedding on the said days. “We promise to keep you updated with key customer information on any developments through our Known channels.” Umeme added.
