NUP Woes continue as Kigezi Region Coordinator, 37 others cross to NRM

KABALE, UGANDA:– As national elections get close with just 2 days left, the coordinator for National Unity Platform (NUP) in the Kigezi Region and party candidate for Rubanda East constituency Jasper Ayebare has withdrawn from race to join the ruling National Resistance Movement.

Ayebare was welcomed to the ruling party on Monday at a function held at Kabale National Teachers College by the Kabale district NRM Chairperson, the State Minister of Finance Hon David Bahati among other Kabale district NRM leaders.

Ayebare said that his decision was aimed at choosing peace and disassociating from a group that has elements of destabilizing the country, allegedly sponsored by Homosexuals from foreign Countries.

Jasper crossed with other 37 claiming NUP supporters from districts of Rukiga, Rubanda, Kanungu, Kisoro and Kabale however most of them never had any documents to manifest them as NUP supporters.

Ayebare asked voters in Rubanda East Constituence to vote for the NRM flag bearer Hon Henry Musasizi as the flag bearee of his new party NRM.

Minister Bahati commended defectors for choosing peace over violence stressing that the move shall help strengthen the NRM to win the Thursday election over their NUP counterparts.

Bahati asked the members to be good ambassadors of the NRM party in their respective communities for the continuation of the party achievements.
