ENTEBBE, UGANDA: Uganda Airlines will today receive its second and final Airbus A330-800NEO from Toulouse, France, The Daily Express has confirmed.
The arrival of this Airbus brings to total six airplanes in the National Carrier having earlier seen delivery of 4 Bombardier CRJ900s last year and the arrival of the first Airbus A330NEO in December last year.
Uganda Airlines is the only operator of the A330-800 in Africa and one of three airlines in the world, the others being Kiwait Airlines and another unnamed carrier.
Seeking to establish itself on the market having gone under for nearly 2 decades, the newly revived national carrier has placed its for CRJs on regional routes to Kenya, Tanzania, DRC, Burundi, South Sudan and Somalia, while the larger A330s are expected to ply the midrange and long range routes outside the continent.
Some of the planned destinations the airline announced recently, include Londo in the UK, Dubai in UAE, Guangzhou in China and Mumbai in India.
